While nearly all would agree that having extra police patrols is a good idea,  the question remains, “How do we pay for this added service?” When the Village was being proposed,  we were told the first year of this service would cost $464,000.00. When the actual costs were coming in closer to the million dollars that we had indicated it would cost, the Village then changed its story to say that the original  number was only a  six month budget. The additional informational analysis of the Elburn Police Department is provided so you can see what it really costs to run a real police department for a municipality  with a population of just over 4,700.  We are 13,000+. Police Comparison
Oh, by the way,  that piece of property behind our current store-front Village Hall and Police Station… ??? The Village is pushing a deal with the developer (Central Development - from whom they are currently leasing and who donated several thousand dollars to Preserve Campton/Preserve Fox Valley)  to nullify the green space designation in order to put in a gas station, other commercial development,  and a Village Hall Complex. Is this just the beginning? Haven’t heard a word about that have you?!? Why all  the secrecy? You do know why…… $$$$
